Job Description

Our client based in Cape Town is looking for a Storeman who will take full ownership of our warehouse environment, managing everything from physical stock to digital procurement workflows. This individual will focus heavily on optimizing inventory levels, eliminating material shortages, minimizing dead stock, and managing ordering systems to streamline production.

Key Value-Add Responsibilities

  • Stock Planning & Re-ordering: Monitor daily raw material and finished goods levels, calculate re-order points, and proactively schedule supplier shipments to eliminate production downtime.

  • Rigorous Stock Takes: Implement and lead regular cycle counts and comprehensive monthly stock takes, investigating and resolving any variances immediately.

  • System Management: Take ownership of the internal ordering and inventory tracking systems (e.g., Omni, Sage, or QuickBooks) to log receipts, dispatches, and purchase requisitions.

  • Adhesive Specific Quality Control: Inspect incoming chemical ingredients, resins, and polymers for correct batches, damaged packaging, and shelf-life / expiry configurations.

  • Supplier Coordination: Liaise directly with vendors regarding delivery variances, product documentation (like Material Safety Data Sheets / MSDS), and short-supply issues.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years running a manufacturing stores warehouse, preferably within the chemical, adhesive, or paint industries.

  • Systems Proficiency: Hands-on experience working with an integrated ERP or inventory ordering software.

  • Education: Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent; a diploma or certificate in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Inventory Control will be heavily prioritized
