Job Title: Packhouse Manager

Area: Kwa-Zulu Natal

Job Summary:

Our client is a busy Kwa-Zulu Natal based fresh produce business. The produce from the farm is carefully prepared in a modern, hygienic, 1200 square metre packing facility on the farm. Food safety and quality control are of absolute priority, and the product is supplied under various brands to numerous major retail chains. They are looking for a pro-active, positive, energetic Packhouse Manage to join the team. The right candidate should preferably have a qualification in Food Technology and at least three year’s working experience in a pressurized Packhouse environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Packaging Stock Control of over 100 SKUs.
• Fresh Produce Stock Control and Procurement.
• Liaising with Farm Managers regarding harvest requirements.
• Controlling Efficient Packhouse Production with a Staff Complement of over 80 people.
• Controlling inhouse Occupational Safety Protocols
• Vehicle a Distribution Management, primarily to major retail DCs
• Compliance with Food Safety and GlobalGap policies and managing the annual audits for both
• Bottom Line Responsibility for Packhouse Profitability

Requirements:

• Must be based in the greater Durban area
• This is an on-site position.
• A matric certificate
• Tertiary qualification in Food Technology or related field.
• Strong leadership and management skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Fluent in English
• Computer proficient
• Able to interact with corporate customers telephonically and via email
• Knowledge in leading a large staff component and dealing handling labour related issues
• A team player capable of working with different divisions of the business with the focus on efficient, profitable production.
• Working hours : Monday to Friday 7 to 4.30PM. Alternate Weekend Saturday shifts. Until about 2.30PM. Hours will be longer over busy periods.
