Purpose of Role
? teach Home Language English (Grades 8 – 12)
? engender a healthy environment for pupil development and learning
? be prepared to work according to the St Patrick’s College Christian ethos and according to Governing Body policies
? demonstrate a love for teenagers and an ability to interact and communicate with them
? possess competent interpersonal skills
? develop and sustain new teaching and learning ideas
? demonstrate an understanding of educational technology (eg: Google Classroom) and how to use it to advance teaching and learning in a senior school environment

Qualifications
Bachelor of Arts (BA) Degree plus Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) – majoring in English
Alternatively, Bachelor of Education (B-Ed) in Senior Phase (SP) and Further Education and Training (FET) Degree – majoring in English
Current South African Council for Educators (SACE) registration

Key Competencies & Skills Required
? Minimum of four (4) years’ High School teaching experience in English Home Language
? Minimum of two (2) years’ teaching Grade12/Matric English Home Language
? Independent Examinations Board (IEB) experience would be advantageous
? National Register for Sex Offenders (NSRO) compliance
